Dr David King

Chair of the Information Security Awareness Forum

David KingDr David King is a founder and the chair of the Information Security Awareness Forum, an initiative to create a co-ordinated cross-industry / cross-institution approach for delivering security awareness messages to large corporations, SMEs, and individuals.  The forum brings together around two-dozen professional bodies and institutions to co-ordinate security awareness activities in the UK.

David has over 25 years of experience in security. He is a former Head of Group Information Security at Aviva, and previously was a VP and Chief Security Architect at JP Morgan Chase.  In 2008 he formed Whimbrel Management Consulting to provide information security consulting services and advice to the financial services and other sectors.  He is also an external lecturer and member of the advisory panel for the Software Engineering / Security MSc at the University of Oxford.

David participates in a number of industry committees and is the joint deputy chair of the ISSA-UK Advisory Board and the EURIM e-Crime Working Group. He served as the chair of the Management Committee of “I-4”, a membership organisation for large global organisations for information security, from 2003 to 2006 (www.i4online.com).

David holds an MBA from London Business School and a PhD in Applied Cryptography. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, a Chartered Engineer and has the information security certifications CISSP, CISM, and M.Inst.ISP.
